Welcome to the IMC's web site, created in order to support members of the Collins learning community as they conduct research and enjoy recreational reading.
The IMC's print collections include nonfiction books, magazines and journals that support the curriculum, as well as a fine fiction collection. Electronic resources include online encyclopedia, magazine, journal and newspaper article databases covering all subject areas, and other high quality content available via the world wide web, as well as growing audiobook and DVD collections.
Throughout the year, students visit the IMC with classes, as members of small cooperative groups, or individually, and enjoy many opportunities to develop their research skills as they learn how to select the most appropriate resources from the IMC's print and electronic collections, and use that information effectively to complete their assignments.
Students are also invited to participate in a variety of reading-related book discussion groups, programs and contests, including the Massachusetts Children's Book Award program (open to students in grade 6), the Read & Rant afternoon book discussion and blogging group, and the IMC Book Suggestion Program, featuring a monthly prize drawing.
